What is Emotional Intelligence?

Emotional intelligence (El) or emotional quotient (EQ) is the capacity of individuals to recognize their own, and other people’s emotions, to discriminate between different feelings and label them appropriately, and to use emotional information to guide thinking, decision-making and behavior. Emotional Intelligence, referred to on this site as EQi, has been shown to be a more significant determinant of success, at work and in life, than cognitive intelligence or technical proficiency. Emotional intelligence skills training helps leaders and managers to become aware of the importance of their own emotional operating system and how to pay more attention and impact positively on the emotions of their direct reports, their peers, and their managers.

What is the EQ-i 2.0?

The EQ-i 2.0 is the assessment tool that we recommend for measuring emotional and social intelligence. After taking the EQ-i 2.0, a report is produced with an inventory of 15 competencies, grouped into five composite areas: Self-Perception, Self-Expression, Interpersonal, Decision Making and Stress Management.

What happens when you take the EQ-i 2.0?

When you sign up for EQ-i 2.0 you are directed to a secure site where you are asked to read and respond to 133 statements. It usually takes about twenty minutes to complete. We then create the report and meet with you, by phone or in person, to review and discuss your results.

The client report you receive provides a detailed analysis of your results. Together with the coaching sessions we provide this report marks the second step in your exploration and growth. There are two report types to choose from: the Workplace Report and the Leadership Report.

What is the EQ 360?

Like the EQ-i 2.0®, this assessment measures fifteen EQ competencies. It’s a self-report assessment combined with the perceptions of people around you.

For this reason, The EQ 360 is also known as the Multi-Rater Assessment. The Multi-Rater or 360 degree assessment combines your own perceptions of your EQ with the perceptions of others who know you well.

How it works

Once you have decided to take the EQ 360, you are sent directions to select and categorize your raters as well as instructions to take the EQ­-i 2.0. We then create the report and contact you to review your results.
